Our Impact
Projects and Achievements Through the Years

2017 - 2023 Color Me for a Cure Run/Walk
Over $120,000 Donated
to Dr. Hammer's Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma (ACC) research at the University of Michigan Hospital
Our past flagship annual event featured a 5k run/walk, silent auction, games with prizes, raffle drawings, live music, and more! We brought together the community in Wausau each summer to have fun and support an important cause. We could not have done it without the help of our volunteers, company sponsors, and local businesses who donated products. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

2023 Silent Auction & Raffle
$5000 Donated
to the Aspirus Family House
Our foundation members worked hard with local businesses each year to gather donations and curate prizes and gift baskets for the Color Me for a Cure silent auction and raffle. Thanks to these efforts, we were able to add to our event proceed donations in 2023 to support Aspirus Family House, an organization that supports those who have to travel for care and need a place to stay, such as cancer patients who need a place to stay while receiving treatments.

2024 Festival of Trees Gift Baskets
Over $600 Value Donated
to the Aspirus Family House
Over the years, we have become experts at curating beautiful, high-end gift baskets for silent auctions and raffles! We were able to use these skills to provide baskets to the Festival of Trees in Wausau, with proceeds benefiting the Aspirus Family House.

Our Focus
Focusing our foundation efforts and donations on values important to Breanne and her family.
Our Story
The Breanne Sleater Memorial Foundation was started in memory of Breanne Sleater; our daughter, sister, best friend, and the woman we all never thought we’d lose to something as rare and aggressive as Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma (ACC).
Breanne was diagnosed with ACC in 2014 after the removal of a massive tumor on her adrenal gland. ACC has a 5-year survival rate of only 50% and is incredibly aggressive. There are very few doctors in the world doing research on and working directly with ACC patients. The leading doctor in this field is right here in the Midwest, Dr. Gary Hammer, with the University of Michigan Hospital.
Dr. Hammer was the lead doctor on Breanne’s team during her battle against ACC and was able to help give her more time here with us through his dedicated research into what makes this particular disease so deadly. The Breanne Sleater Memorial Foundation was created to provide funding to Dr. Hammer’s team to further his research and further the lives of others fighting ACC right now. We would hope that one day Dr. Hammer will be able to find a cure. Until that day comes, we have helped to provide the funding needed for his team to do what they did for us: to give other families more of the thing that is most precious in the face of a disease like ACC, more time.
After seven years focusing on funding research for ACC, we have expanded with a new mission. We are now doing more projects for our community, focusing on things that were important to Breanne and her family. Our foundation continues to honor Breanne by sharing stories of her life and light while making a difference in our community.
